Bulkheads in Aft and Mid Seat/Tank
View GIF alone for better quality.
The forward bulkhead of the aft seat/tank is a simple rectangle with a softwood seat bearer fixed flush with the top edge. The seat bearer tapers slightly in plan view (ie, narrower on its aft side).
The forward and aft bulkheads of the mid seat/tank are identical. At each end there is a bracket projecting above the level of the seat, nearly to the top of the gunwhale, and in the end of each bracket there is a cut-out for the sheer doubler. The horizontal seat bearer is fixed flush with the top of the central part of each bulkhead - it has square ends, as the hull is parallel at this point.
Two sloping seat bearers (to support the sloping sides of the mid seat) will be added to each bulkhead later, during assembly of the hull, after the mid seat top has been fitted.
The seat bearers are 'glued' to the bulkheads with an epoxy/microfibres mix and pinned together while the 'glue' sets.
