Bow Seat/Tank Area

View GIF alone for better quality

This drawing shows the centreline section through the bow seat/tank, with the following components:

- on the centreline is a longitudinal bulkhead of 6 ply - this supports the mast step, divides the bow tank into two, and helps hold the mast step in place during construction;

- the mast step, which mounts onto the tank bulkhead;

- a doubler on the back of the bow transom, where the ringbolt (or eyebolt) used for mooring or towing the scow is attached;

- an extension of the gunwhale across the bow transom - this has two purposes, to deflect any water rising up the bow transom and to provide a handhold for picking up the bow of the scow.

Separate drawings will be added showing the assembly of the mast step and the dimensions of its individual parts.
