A few points came out of the visit that I made to Malcom and Ken in 1976, some of which seem to have been overlooked by others:
·
Malcolm and Ken fully realised that a new front suspension design would be more suitable for the Quasar, but they felt that the Quasar had quite enough innovative features and that the market would only stand for so much innovation. Judging by most motorcyclist's reaction to the Quasar, they weren't wrong!·
Malcolm acknowledged that the design of the Quasar had been heavily influenced by the Ner-a-car.·
Malcolm and Ken knew the Quasar needed more power than the standard Reliant engine could give. One wanted to put a 16 valve head on the Reliant block, while the other wanted to use a turbocharger (both very new concepts at the time) - sorry, I can't remember which one held which view. Back
